February 11, 2026 (New Westminster, BC) - Mayoral Candidate, Councillor Daniel Fontaine today confirmed the selection of Anita Dunn as New Westminster Progressive (NWP) School Board Trustee candidate for the 2026 municipal election. Liz Fajber and Lucas Steele were announced as NWP School Board candidates in January.
“We are very excited to have Anita joining the NWP team of School Board and City Council candidates for the October election,” said Councillor Fontaine. “Her financial experience, commitment to education and passion for New Westminster will ensure the School Board is more effective and responsive to taxpayers. With Anita, Liz and Lucas, the NWP is presenting a diverse and experienced team of candidates ready to listen and lead.”
Anita was born and raised in New Westminster. As mom to a 14-year-old attending NWSS, she holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a CPA, CGA designation. Anita first served 10 years with a Crown Corporation before opening the Mila + Paige clothing boutique in downtown New Westminster. Anita also served as Treasurer of the Downtown New West Business Improvement Association for 6 years. Click here for a link to Anita’s video and bio.
“I am running because I am a parent of a NWSS high school student who sees firsthand how overcrowded our schools have become,” said candidate Dunn. “I grew up here, built a local business here and spent my career balancing books. I understand both community needs and fiscal reality. With rapid densification and no matching infrastructure funding, our district needs trustees who know how to find efficiencies, generate revenue and fight for sustainable solutions that put students first.”
More School Board candidates will be announced in the coming weeks. Anita will join Daniel and other NWP candidates at a community meeting with residents at the Queensborough Community Centre, Thursday, February 12 at 6:30pm.
Since introducing Councillor Daniel Fontaine as Mayoral Candidate in September, the NWP has announced a full team of City Council candidates. More information is available at www.nwprogress.ca.
