FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Westminster, B.C. (June 9, 2026) — The New Westminster Progressives (NWP) have nominated a slate of 13 candidates in the upcoming municipal and school board elections – the largest slate in the city, and the largest NWP has run since the organization formed in 2017.

“Our candidates are a wonderfully diverse group of individuals, each bringing deep local roots, experience and perspective to this important election,” says Daniel Fontaine, NWP mayoral candidate and current New Westminster City Councillor. “ When elected, we will get our city government and school board back on track. We will put all residents and school students at the centre of every decision, focusing on those important things people want from their local government, within a reasonable budget that does not over-burden local families.”

  • Daniel Fontaine – Mayoral candidate and current city councillor

  • Paul Minhas (re-election)

  • Ken Armstrong

  • Karima Budhwani

  • Rick Folka

  • Maryann Morrison

  • Ray Porcellato

NWP school board candidates:

  • Kathleen Carlsen (re-election)

  • Danielle Connelly (re-election)

  • Don Doyle
