New Episode Alert: For the Record with Daniel Fontaine & Paul Minhas

This week’s podcast is packed with big debates and bold decisions

Running for Mayor – On Sept 18, over 350 people came out to support Daniel’s campaign to bring change to New Westminster.

Budget 2026 – Staff pitched 4–5% tax hikes. Council backed the NWP's push to also model 0% and 2.5% increases. For a change…unanimous!

Q2Q Ferry Fares – Staff recommended fare hikes of up to 20%. NWP motion to cap concession fares at inflation (2.5%) approved but regular fares are still going up by 11%.

Seniors’ Discount – Did you know New West seniors can get 25% off solid waste & recycling pickup? Council discussed how to get the word out.

Queensborough Concerns – Delegations raised red flags on the 7th Street bike lane, crime & safety, and a $275,000 digital sign project.

In the Media – Hear Daniel’s interviews with Mike Smyth on Metro Vancouver’s sky-high salaries and with Simi Sara on his mayoral campaign launch.
